I got your list right here.....

Everyone loves a good list, so I thought I would start a new series of list. This new series will look at my top 10 favorite and top 10 most hated athletes in each of the main sports. Since it is baseball season we will start with that.......

TOP 10 FAVORITES:

10) Austin Kearns: Gotta love the hometown boy.

9) Mike Cameron: Strikes out a lot, but you gotta love the way he cocks that hat to the side. A good fielder too.

8) Pedro Martinez: He's still got the stuff .

7) Scott Rolen: Mad glove skills. Best 3rd baseman in the league.

6) Johnny Damon: Brings comedy to the mix.

5) Juan Pierre: It's funny because his first name is Spanish and his last name is French. At any rate this kid is flat out speedy.

4) Edgar Renteria: Good hitter, great SS. I love his attitude.

3) Tori Hunter: One of the best outfielders I have ever seen.

2) Dontrelle Willis: That high kick, that smile, that wicked stuff from the mound. What's not to love?

And # 1 goes to.........

1) Ichiro Suzuki: Will go down as one of the best hitters the game has ever seen. He is one of the only guys I have seen who can run out a routine grounder to short. He's got a cannon from right field. Yet he remains a mystery still. That's what makes him so cool.

Now for the TOP 10 MOST HATED:

10) Roger Clemens: Can't get over the fact that he threw a bat at Mike Piazza.

9) Sammy Sosa: Sorry Sammy, at one point I liked you. But there is just too much against you now: the corked bat incident, your move to Baltimore, and not to mention that your home run production has dropped significantly since the crackdown on steroids.

8) Kenny Rogers: Recent events have revealed his true personailty.

7) Aaron Boone: For the 2003 ALCS.

6) Mariano Rivera: Actually, I kind if like him now since the Sox started beating up on him.

5) Randy Jonson: Sell-out.

4) Gary Sheffield: The dude is a jerk.

3) Derek Jeter: Too many reasons.

2) A-Rod: He was bad enough as it was, but when he tried to hit that ball out of Kevin Millars glove last year in the playoffs, that moved him way up on the list.

And the # 1 Most Hated Player is........

1) Barry Bonds: Slowly but surely, Barry is trying to get out of the game before it is discovered that he uses steroids. I am sick of hearing his complaints about how everyone is out to get him. I don't want to see Hank Aarons record broke by a guy who obviously juices.

NOTE: These are may favorites and most hated enemies, which will obviously differ from yours. But I would still like to hear who you think I should add or take off these lists.

a most hated list without craig counsell? what other man in baseball do you just want to punch every time you see him at bat? or how he can be TERRIBLE for an entire season yet get lucky base hits and steal two world series rings? hank aaron - 1 world series ring, counsell - 2 rings. that just is not right. did i mention i want to punch him every time i see his batting stance?

and any list of favorite active players not topped by john smoltz oe even INCLUDING him makes me want to throw up.

but hey! other than that, nicely done.

(and i know this breaks my staunch refusal to participate in blogs by any means other than reading, but if baseball is the game, i'm in)

Espn.com posted a long article on Ichiro yesterday. His dad runs a 4-story museum dedicated to him, it's kinda sick.

I'd put Kenny Rogers higher up on my hated list, partly because he is always on the news here. To me, he represents all of the cocky, egotistical, white jerks that I remember were on the baseball team in high school. Austin Kearns was king of the jerks.

why is it that 5 out of your top 10 hated players either played for or play right now for the yankees?? i think that list is a bit biased...

Secondly, how can you put Austin Kearns just because he is a hometown kid and leave out one of the best outfielders to ever play?
Show this man some love, even as the "old man" and the "injury prone" guy that he is according to all his bashers he is still batting .283 with 71 RBIs and 23 home runs! he has the greatest swing in the game, so pure and so beautiful--- but alfonso soriano could give him a run for his money someday (but thats beside the point) How can anyone in their right mind not like the man that is Ken Griffey Jr?

sorry to keep commenting but as the great Red Sox "fan" you are you should know that it wasn't Millar that A-rod punched the ball away from... it was Bronson Arroyo. You bandwagon hoppers need to get your facts straight.. just kidding with you but not really!

You are right John, I forgot that it was Arroyo who was covering first on that play...but don't hate just becasue the Reds suck this year, I am no bandwagon fan, I am just not very outspoken about baseball, especially in years before when they choked (when it comes to UK sports however, I always have something to say). But don't worry about the Reds, they will win a World Series as soon as they can get some solid pitching. I admire you John for being such an outspoken and optomistic supporter of your team even when they are going through a rough patch.......and Griffey isn't so bad either, I was a fan when he played for Seattle back in the day (The M's are my second favorite team, by the way).
